With spring break right around the corner, summer will be here before we know it! Coming from someone that has lived her whole life in Texas, believe me when I say I know how miserable summers can be. The heat and humidity can take a toll on our moods as well as our bodies, and impact our productivity in the workplace. Here are a few solutions to help you cope this summer and beat the heat:
1. Stay Hydrated
This is probably one of the most important things that you can do to help take care of your body this summer. It is important to make sure that you are getting enough water so that you are replacing what your body is losing through sweating, either because of exercise or just the heat in general. Keep a large water bottle on our desk at work or on your counter at home.
2. Making Smart Clothing Choices
There are a lot of us out there that work in an office setting, but that doesn’t mean you have to melt all summer in a thick suit. There are plenty of office appropriate outfits for both men and women that will allow you to stay cool and professional. Try opting for lighter fabrics or layering so that when you get too hot you can adjust your wardrobe accordingly.
3. Get Creative
You always have options, so if you are stuck in an office that is a little to warm for your liking try putting a small quiet desk fan at your desk, they are very reasonably priced and can provide some much needed relief! If you are next to a window make sure to keep the blinds closed during the hottest parts of the day and if you are able to, curtains are always a good way to help block out the heat.
This summer make sure that you are doing everything you can to stay cool! You have plenty of options to help keep the heat at bay, and remember to stay hydrated! As long as you are able to incorporate some of these things into your daily life, you should have a wonderful summer.
